Pickling Lime

I'm using 2 teaspoons per gallon.I figured that since its basically just cheap kalk that I could just use the same dosage.Plus instead of dripping it,I pour it into my ATO container.
Been working great so far.

cool, i wasn't sure, i've been using only 1 teaspoon. works great coralline algae has exploded thanks to pickling lime.

Yote, do you test for calcium? If so, what kind of readings are you getting with the pickling lime?

Salty,I test my calcium every week.
It was dropping from 480 to like 350 in a weeks time. Not that I've started using the pickling lime, its only dropping to 400 to 420.

sps can hog up all the calcium quick, almost time to upgrade to calcium reactor they don't add calcium just keep calcium level steady.

I've been using the Kent Marine Liquid Reactor. It says on the bottle that it acts just as effectively as a calcium reactor, even for SPS dominated tanks. So far so good, and I have about 20 SPS frags in my tank.

I am just going to keep my SPS at a minimum. No more than 5-6 SPS. they should not use Calcium up too fast
