Old shells

I bought some larger shells from a LFS. Not sure where they been or what they been through. Is it okay to use them if i rinse or soak them in tap water, then a fresh rinse in RO water. Maybe boil them first? Not to sure figured id ask seeing as i dont know their history.

Basically was going to smash them up into smaller pieces and super glue them back together for a base of a structure that i wanna create. Thanks

You can boil them first, then they should be safe to put in your tank.
