New Live Rock Pics

Depends om if your shooting for maintenance or growth. For maintenance just keep the water parameters in check (lots and lots of circulation) and a little organic nutrient and a very little iodine. If your shooting for growth add some calcium polygluconate and add Lugol's iodine daily (just use manufacturers directions for weekly and divide it by seven). It breaks down very quickly and becomes unavailable (like 24 to 36 hours). Keep your pH, and alkalinity high (10-12) with a calcium at or above 350ppm, no higher than 400ppm is needed or really recommended. A high alkalinity will mean a high magnesium anyway so that supplementation is not necessary. Frequent water changes will handle usually every thing but the calcium polygluconate and the Lugol's iodine. Lugol's is often available at pharmacies but must be asked for as it is used in making meth so is kept behind the counter. a pH of 8.3 to 8.6 is best for coralline as its aragonite skeleton starts breaking down at a pH of 8.2. The extra 0.3 pH points will allow for night time decline in pH. If it is tub stored and not in a tank, make sure the circulation is really good (turbulent).
