LPS for rockwork?

Gdbyrd

life's a beach
I'm really wanting to stay away from SPS. I enjoy my softies and LPS and am in need of advice. I really don't have any ledges left in my tank, so anything I get will have to be glued onto a basically vertical wall.

What in your opinion will do good like this? It'd be medium-high light with low-med flow.

Is that pretty much what I should stick with?

Looking mostly at the top 2/3rds of the tank.

PS, that's not an updated pic. Having issues with my camera. Currently clam is top rock on the left, and where the clam had been I have a big colony of polyps.

+1 David
About any of the soft corals can be attached and would actually look good growing along the rock walls.

Even LPS can go in the walls, if you find a spot to wedge it in. Candy canes and frogspawn/hammer/torch come to mind.

Thank you gents :)

I was wondering about the mushrooms. Most of the ones I've seen come on pretty decent pieces of LR. Is there a way you can get them off of there so I could attach them where I want? If I were to buy loose shrooms, can you superglue them to where you want them? Or do you have to wait for them to attack to something, then glue that to the rock?

Everytime I find them they're attached to massive plugs. My rockwork is stacked pretty tightly, it's difficult to find a place to wedge anything in there. If it was an actual stalk(like the skeleton), that'd work great. But I can never find that.

Really? That's weird.

If you buy individual mushrooms online, they usually come attached to a small pebble or piece of rubble.

Super glue doesn't work very well on mushrooms. You can place them in a bowl with rubble inside the tank and let them attach.

Just what I have locally. It's like 40 bucks for a rock the size of a baseball and 5-10 shrooms on it. I really can't afford to have ANY more rock in the tank without having to tear it down and restack it.

They sell individual mushrooms, but they are usually totally loose. And they're 5$ a piece for the uglier ones :*(

If you do buy the loose shrooms, like Dcan said, get a little tupperware cup and fill it with gravel and rock rubble (or you can take a big rock and smash it with a hammer to make gravel). Put the cup in the bottom of the tank, put your mushrooms in, and let them sit. It usually takes about 2 weeks, but they will attach to the little pieces of rubble.

Alright. Thanks for the advice. Have to wait for Friday. My dad is taking a trip up to San Antonio, stuff is a lot lot cheaper up there and a bigger variety. Last time I was there they had a huge cup full of mushrooms. Hopefully I'll be able to get something.

Just a quick question. If I were to buy a rock with mushrooms on it, is there anyway i can get the mushrooms off so I can place them individually?

If you place them in too much flow or not enough light they will usually detach in a quest to move to a place in the tank more suitable.

Ever think of tying the coral you want where you want it? I use that stretchy string used to tie up a roast;-). Works real well and after about two weeks just remove the string.

Today I used a shot of silicone to attach a small star polyp to a piece of rock. Seems ok so far.

Just bust up the rock that the mushrooms are on.
