How do I remove overflows

Well, mine I just turn off the return pump and lift the overflow off the back of the tank.:mrgreen:

However, I get the feeling that you are talking about internal ones. Pics and more of a description will help.

I have a 150 reef ready that I intend to use as a sump for my 300

Why not keep the overflow box and just plug the hole?
How much real estate is the overflow box taking up compared to the entire 150?
