I don't know if this is in the right section but my zoa's are on little chunks of rock and I want to glue them to my live rock. I bought the gel superglue and put it on the fray outside of water and then as soon ad the glue hits the water it hardens. I can't take the LR out of the tank. Is there any special methods anybody uses here? I saw something about aquamend putty? Where can I find that? My hermit knocked my one zoa off and it was just out of reach of my hammer coral so I really want to get these guys glued on. Plus if they keep moving they will never grow and spread. Help please and thank you.

You need to use a lot of super glue. I use almost 1/2 of one of those tubes per frag. I always apply the gel outside of the tank and I'll blow on it so that it'll start to harden. Then I'll stick it wherever I want the coral and you'll need to hold it in place for several minutes to the gel starts to set. I usually hold it for anywhere from one to three minutes.

Maybe that's why. My husband was insisting that it only needs a tiny drop bc its superglue. Lol guess I can tell him he is wrong for once

Bl1 is right. I just added about 16 frags to my tank the other day and used 12 tubes of super glue!!! you will get it all over your hands but the best method i have found is to put a nice glob on your finger and smear it on the rock where you want to place it. then put a glob on the frag and hold them together. it works great. the glue sometimes has a hard time bonding to the rock

You use your fingers?!

I make sure the frag is dry where I'm going to glue it, then probably WAY over-do it on the glue, count to ten, and then hold it on the rock for about a minute.

Well the problem I'm having with the gel super glue is it hardens as soon as of hits the water. I want to glue them to my big piece of live rock and I can't take the live rock out of my tank. I think I will get some different super glue and try using more. If that doesn't work ill look for some epoxy or that aquamend putty. Or maybe ill use the putty and the superglue. I think the reason why its not sticking is bc there isn't enough surface area touching the rock. So I'm gonna have to fill in all the cracks and hole with putty and glue. I wonder if they sell any big tubes of superglue instead of getting a ton on small ones.

You could always try another kind... You should try a huge glob first...
When it hits the water, it'll form a bubble, with wet glue in the middle... and then when you push it onto the rock, the bubble will pop.
Does that make sense? It's kind of hard to explain...

YOu need to just get super glue Gel at Home Depot or something. THey also have the two part putty in the plumbing section, Oatley makes it, called Fix it Stick, bonds in 5 minutes, you just cut some off and mix it like clay, then mold it to the rock and press the coral frag down into it. I like the putty because it holds, like rock and stuff, plus you can remove it, it busts off with a knife, and its non toxic.

Thanks seabee. I will attempt the glue again if for some reason I can't get it to work the putty it is...or the putty and the glue together that should make it super strong. Once these guys are on I don't want them coming off ever lol. I love the overgrown looking tank. I want it filled with corals. I can't wait till these zoa's start spreading. They will make my tank glow at night. :)

Just like everyone said...put the glue on "Liberally" and hold it down onto the rock firmly....IMO superglue gel works better than any of the 2 part aquarium epxoies I've tried..(and I've tried them all) from cheap to DD ..they all suck.

what i do i get the rock that im going to glue to the coral...dry the spot on the rock.....add glue...place the coral and hold for a min....add a bit of water to make the glue hard and put the rock back...

People dont like moving things in their tank, it can kick up sand, and kill something thats hiding. And people sometimes glue their rocks together.
