well sump that was a bad idea it crashed my system i have had my black mouth chromis and my female clown die the male clown is in the QT but not doing the best..

i believe it was the silicone i used i thought it was reef safe the guy at home depot said it was

Sucks man. Don't give up tho, fish are the cheap part. So is pvc and silicone.

im not going to give up i might dowgrade to a 20h shalower more to the size of my live rock cheep lights.. easier

Possibly, or easier for the water to go to the can like in this case. Bigger is better in regards to stable water.
