Refractometer
I have one of these and its great. Super easy to calibrate. Readings in PSU, SG and PPT (can set any one as default).

As for heaters I have 2 (in case one crashes). This all depends on how much you want to spend.
In my display I have one of these below. It has a digital thermometer readout so you don't need a separate therm. Also, it will tell you when the water flow through the heater is low. Super easy to set up plus it looks good enough to keep in the display. I like having a heater in the display in case the pump fails. Quite pricey though.

In my sump i have a marineland 300W - but i would probably recommend a titanium one.
