how much lighting does a dersa clam need? i have the 36in t5 ho 4bulb individual reflector 39w 14k,do i have enough light? it puts me around 5.3 watts per gallon

Sounds like enough to me. I have about 5.9 watts per gal. and thats fine for clams. Although my tank is only 18" deep.

Yes you do...derasa clams are the lower light clams, so you have plenty of light.

$100 for what kind of clam? That's a fair price for a lot of clams -- larger, aquacultured and colorful clams are often that price or more.

Like everyone else said, you're lighting is fine to keep clams. You'll be fine getting the clam shipped as long as you do it overnight shipping. Just make sure to acclimate the clam correctly before putting it in your tank.

Mine (crocea) was less than an inch long when I got it, and I paid $75.

For maxima and crocea I'd say that's a good price but, for derasa you can find them online for $30-40 dollars

I only have VHO lighting and my derasa and he does great.

As long as your tanks stable,I think a clam would do fine.
