Base Sand

Please excuse me for posting this here, but I wasn't sure where it belonged.
Has anyone used, and had success, using pool filter sand in their tank? If so, I'd love to see some pictures.

I don't know what pool filter sand even is but I do know you should only use aragonite sand in your marine tank. Some people have tried Fiji black sand and even river sand (like the type used in children's sand boxes) but these are not as good. Aragonite will hold beneficial bacteria better and it will add some small amounts of cal into the water.

Also, the play sand, and I am assuming the pool filter sand, is a silica based sand. Silicates feed diatoms which make our tanks look not so pretty.
