Thats what I was thinking.
Diatoms are one of those things that happen to ALL new tanks.They'll go away as soon as the silicates in the water are used up.

Should I wipe the tank down? I'll take a picture and upload it. What are silicantes? Do silicantes go away with water changes?
 
Silicates can be found in your sand and water. They can be lowered if you use good (RODI) water for water changes, but there's no reason to sweat over diatoms. They happen to everybody.
 
Yep.You'll look in the tank before long,and they'll all be gone.
Diatoms are one of those things thats gonna happen.Their just part of the process.
