Adding 3 fish at a time

If you are lazy with your maintenance then yes you could run into problems. If you are running the proper equipment and have good maintenance practices then it is very possible to add 3 fish at one time. Also if you read my post completely , I stated " If done correctly , then at that time you could possibly add all 3 fish at the same time." That would mean running your tests, knowing your tank, and making an informed decision. Not every tank is the same, just because you were not able to do something a certain way doesnt mean that is true for everyone.

IF they are really small fish.. and I know the Dr. Tim's method and science to the letter. regardless...adding three fish to a tank at the same time is not a recommended procedure. Unless it is a very large tank... with very mature LR.. and loads of coral and CUC, or is a mature tank.... No, every tank is not the same.. but it is not the recommended method this early in the tank's life.

Adding too many fish inches at a time is a good way to trigger a cycle and risk the health of many of the life forms in the tank. Why take that risk?

"fish inches " are you serious ? LMAO

The OP wants 2 clowns in the tank , you advised that he add one because they are hardy. That could potentially ruin the chance of ever having the second. Im trying to take the slow and easy route and you are ruining the stocking plans.

OP - there are many different ways of running a tank, my advice would be to read up while your tank cycles. Find a tank that you really like, read up on how that person got to where they are today, then try to mimic what you see and add your own touch along the way.

So you think a 5" fish is the same bio load as two small clowns... ?? yes inches count.

It's common practice to add a pair of clowns instead of a single clown.

I wouldn't add the third fish until later, whether or not you use Dr. Tim's.

I agree with Erin, however it may be possible to add 3 fish at the same time to start and I would prolly feel confident doing it myself. I would not recommend it to a new reefer that does not completely understand how to boost(prep) bacteria populations to handle a sudden surge of waste.

I'd skip the urchin until a bit later. Other that that, you're good. Maybe do a skunk cleaner in place of the urchin?

Whats the reason for waiting on the urchin? If its because they need more algea then i could wait a few more weeks after the cycle is done for more algea to grow before makeing the order, correct?

I am just trying to get as much stock as possible in one order, :)

Off-topic But can i just use 1 250Gph powerhead while i cycle my tank? then buy a 500gph before i get livestock.
