Do Not Listen To Me!!!
Yeah so after poking around I decided to try this design instead of the normal more popular ones.
I will have the water as it comes into the skimmer area possible run down some rubble rock to kind of keep the bubbles down. I have some extra Acrylic so I may make a little cove. That is if I have any room with this HUGE skimmer. I will also do the same for the fuge area. I was shocked when I opened the box for sure. It needs all the space I allocated for it if not more so this is a rough plan.
I will post the build in my tank build but just thought I would get some opinions. I will not be using sand only rock and chaeto. I couldn't get the acrylic routed for a drain look so I may attach some eggcrate to the inside.
The final measurements for the refugium and return may differ depending how I set the skimmer area and how and if I need extra room for the water coming in. If anything the refugium will shrink first. The tank is also 17 inches deep so it is huge period so shrinking them won't be that big of a deal.
My only issue with this set up is because I am using an Auto-Top Off and hate having to run a hose around the sump to the middle. I may if I can use PVC and make it nice and easily removeable.
NOTE: The ballvalve is so I can have the water slowly trickle into the refugium like I read at Melves(SP?)
NOTE: DAMN THAT SKIMMER IS HUGE!!!!!!!!!! I was like I feel like I am opening a store with this thing.
