****update on hump day****

skimmer

platform for the skimmer

apex system

frag tank

need some ideas on how to plumb this tank with no overflow box

view from the computer desk. think it will work

I just watched my fish get into a brawl and I'm struggling to get my nitrates below 5-10. Other than that, great! :D

Plumb your frag tank like I did my 75gallon, I can find the link for you if you'd like. Basically consist of a threaded bulkhead with a threaded male&female elbow attached. To prevent things from flowing down the pipe, add straining basket which can also be purchased same place you get the bulkhead from. on the backside install a t" fitting vertically with a pvc down spout and a capped top. make sure to drill a hole in the cap as well. this allows air to escape and water to "fall" instead of siphon.

thanks that was what i was thinking. just wasnt to sure without an overflow box.
Looking great bro think you'll be done before me lol. Can't wait to see this mistress wet ;)
haha. i dont know. i've got a order from brs coming tomorrow with bulkhead, loc line, reactor, and some misc stuff. hopefully have the tank plumbed this weekend. but i did just screwed myself on getting my razors. might have a lil more set back.

heres a lil diy filter sock. thank god for the 40b sump. it has so much room. dont know how y'all do the small cubes. today cost: free

sitting in the sump

That's so cool! DIY FTW!
Only having room for a ten gallon under my cube really sucks. It would have been a tiny bit better had I went ahead and put baffles in it but I left it open. Have seriously considered putting a display refugium next to the tank instead of under the stand.

That's a real good idea! Might have to look into that for my sump. Still trying to plan mine out.
thanks had someone trying to sell me a diy made out of acrylic and it sprung on me to google it. and this was the first one to pop up and i had a full sheet of the egg crate from the 150. need any help ask away.

i've seen some really sweet looking refugium just look at dennis. steal his idea and put a ton of macro algae some mangroves and a pair of bj cardinals.
thats really cool way ta go for the DIY :D
thanks

I like the size of the tank, Rimless is so clean looking. The Frag tank is a nice size as well. The rock that you have? Is that the Eco-Rock, I had that in my last set-up but this time around it's the traditional Figi. What are you gonna be wrapping the stand with if anything?

thanks. so far i'm loving the rimless look. wishing now i would have gone with a 75 or 90. lol the rock i have came from the cultured reef. just plain old florida reef rock (FL Reef Rock) he gets shipped in on a pallet and sells it pre-boxed for pickup $80. got all 60lbs from him. the sand for the refuge also came from him. its like 40lbs for $30. hes a great guy to deal with. i've got some nice hinges and finish the stand with just haven't had time. would rather get it cycling first then finish the wrapping.

You guys in Florida get that Rock and sand cheap, we are paying 2 to 2.50 a pound for both. What I did when I had the rock was interduced Dr Tims nutrifying Bacteria, I know some people don't think it's good stuff but because the rock is so clean and theres no die off, It says you can interduce Fish the next day but I waited 2 weeks and added some flake food every couple of days to promote the cycle a bit.You should check it out on the web. No difference between a 75 or a 90 except for depth, You plan on LED so depth isn't an issue.

On my previous build I had 4 Maxspect Razors 20 inch 16k on the tank. An amazing light to program but I wasn't totally happy with the spectrum, the blues were dead on but the white light i thought were crap. I have a really nice T-5 fixture with 3 seperate cords so i went that route, anyway I'm looking forward to seeing your tank when its lit.

yea grant it i drove 90mins to pick it up. made a few stop by other reefers and another store (TCC) down there. but the guy is extremely smart been doing reefing for 30+ years. has a pretty sweet set up.
i'll have to look that stuff up i usually do it the old fashion way with a raw shrimp or saw someone actually use ammonia and pour it in to get that ammonia spike quicker.
75 and 90 are the same except for height. both are 48"x18" one 19" for 75 and 24" for the 90. i had a 90 a few tanks ago. lol

I've used the house hold Ammonia before as well but thought it was strange at the time, I think the best way is to get a piece of Live Rock with lots of crap on it, I mean die off.Oh ya i was supposed to mention my last tank was a 150 5x2x2 Very costly for everything, I'm going smaller and staying smaller, everything just cost less.
