Question dealing with Xenia, Brown Zoas, and Brown Mushrooms

I really try to get folks to get a little better corals. Here's a beginner mistake, I paid 45 bucks for pulsing xenia 3 years ago starting out. I now give away high end sps because that grows non stop.

    Dehumidifier/Evaporation Question

Check your humidity in that area. You just don't want mold. I know of a few folks that you can smell that they have a tank. I don't think molding up a house is worth the hobby. Have you tried keeping your fan your furnace 24/7?

    Dehumidifier/Evaporation Question

I have my tank on the main level and my sump and refugium in the basement. The dehumidifier is running in the unfinished basement. As of summer, I go threw about a 1/2 g to 1g per day of top off water. Humidity on the return air is right around 50% with ac on. It isn't the same, but I hope it...

Question dealing with Xenia, Brown Zoas, and Brown Mushrooms

They will just spread there too. I have coral that haven't seen light in 2 1/2 years and they are still very much alive. The only thing you can do is remove the problem.

    MP40 noisy propeller

Mp40s are loud. They even made a new version because they knew they are loud.

    MP40 noisy propeller

Of its has a rattle sound coming from the wet side, sounds like it's not lined up correctly. Just keep it at 100% and adjust it from there. Make sure you have the proper thickness glass you have too.

    The 12g nano reef update.

I think you're rushing it and in a few months you will see what I mean. Your coral doesn't look happy being closed up. Not everything is perfect, maybe to you but in a month you can not add 11 corals and know the base line for your cal and alk intake to be ' spot on.' You guys come in and go out...

    coral stocking

I would do what I suggested in the above post and start with lps (large polyp stony). I would stay away from what josh described for coral as they will all take over your rock work. Softies and leathers are all 'beginner' coral but don't be stuck on that word. Find what interests you first...

    Welcome home " Ripley"

Sea cucumber. Very bad if they die. You need an established tank with dirty sand.

    Welcome home " Ripley"

They hide very well. You just have to look for the sand poop.

    Welcome home " Ripley"

I would say odd. Mine has not left the sand bed. It constantly is eating.

mushroom receding with white worm like parasites

Something close touched it. I have a hydnophora that does this too because it's so big and trying to grow out of the water. I wouldn't be concerned right now.

    Welcome home " Ripley"

I have a tigertail. He does a great job. Nothing funnier than the poop!

Not a chance. I've got acro on the bottom.

They are both good lights. I do think you could have been fine with the 160, but that extra spread may be helpful.

    coral stocking

Not true at all. Goodness They won't kill each other if they are different size..... how would they mate? The female is always the larger and the male is the smaller. I added a 4 inch female 8 months after the male and 3 yrs later they still mate every 2 weeks and the same rock.

    Cleaner shrimp died...

I would say the molt must have not went so well. They get pretty stressed during the process. The underside of the shrimp looks pretty dark showing signs that it may have been trying to molt again.

    Making a Refugium

You can always drain your dt and take out the center brace and reinstall it after you put the sump in. I wouldn't recommend doing it with the tank full.

    Making a Refugium

No. You can drill a couple of 20g and link them together. The goal is 50% of the size of the dt (display tank) I drilled holes into my basement and use that for my sump room.
