Little Fish's 46

ya, the other ones that i have that i really love are below. Around here, they are called Gonzo's dirty pinks, but that is a local guy who sells stuff so i dont know what they are called on a more national setting.

Armor of God I think.

Most of them i traded with other reefers to get, and i hardly ever buy from lfs. Local reefers will sell their frags for much cheaper than a lfs will.

I also have a great program in my area that i participate in, call "dont break the chain". Basically someone gives away a coral, and you have to give away the first two frags of that coral before you can trade it or sell pieces.

So total, i have spend very little compared to what most would spend on that amount.

Other good place to look for cheap frags are cragslist. People are always getting out of the hobby and looking to get rid of stuff for cheap.

i wouldnt personally, with the shipping costs, it ends up being cheaper to buy it from a lfs. The only time i would order something online is if its a pretty rare coral and i cant find anyone in the area who has it and would frag me a piece.

Also, remember you dont need to buy a big colony. A $5 chip of coral will grow huge if given enough time.

It's going to be kinda tough, my LFS probably has them way overpriced, and I don't know anyone in to this salt water stuff. Shipping is pretty ridicules. I put the together a spread sheet with everything (except corals) that I would need for my 75 gallon reef. The total cost of all the stuff was $1,639.62. the shipping costs $473.52.

seriously, check out cragslist for stuff. Im sure you can find stuff much cheaper than what you are planning to pay.

Also, just google your area and reef club or marine club. Or talk to the lfs, they should know if there is one in the area.

Lucky for me i found a forum called: Marine Aquarium Society Of Nova Scotia. Its great, people make group meetings so we get to know each other and we trade and buy frags, i picked up some good sized frags the other day for 50 bucks all in all.
See if you can find a group of local reefers mate! Its worth it!! ;)

I think I'd be a little nervous getting rocks or fish from craigslist. I'd be a little worried about getting corals as well. God knows what might be on them. I guess I could try and buy my powerheads there. A lot of it is the live rock. I have $517 of live rock (including shipping) which one of the biggest costs. It's also going to be $148 for the cleaner crew and $308 for my invertebrates. $100 in sand, $160 for the powerheads, $240 for the lights, and $295 in fish.

i think you could do the rock much cheaper than that, get dry rock from marcorocks.com and then just a couple lbs of live. or just move a piece over from your current tank. That is more than enough to get the bacteria in there.

Also check out reefcleaner.org, im sure you can get a cheaper CUC.

Also, you cant add all your fish, corals, and other inverts at once. You are going to add them a little bit at a time.

And buying stuff online is just as risky as buying it from craglist or a store. All of those places might have bugs, which is why you always dip new corals.

I have Coral Rx, which is decent.
This is what it does:

Why are we mucking up Hannah's build thread with questions that have nothing to do with Hannah's tank?

We generally recommend if you have a question to ask it in the forum, so that you'll get more responses.
