White stuff on live rock?

Hello,

I am in the process of setting up my reef tank and currently cycling the tank. My live rock is 3 days old and all of a sudden I notice some 'white stuff' on them. Could you please tell me what they are and how I could get rid of them? Are they harmful? I am also uploading a couple of pictures...

Looks like a sponge, is it fast growing?

I would say its fast because it wasn't there when I left for work this morning but I saw all of that when I got home...

I would remove it then. You should be able to pick it off quite easily.

I would guess its die off from the transfer. If you take it out it probably smells like hot garbage LOL Try to rinse it off in a bucket with some tank water

I dunno, I'd say if you're cycling, it's no threat to anything, and taking it out would expose more of it to the air - maybe if you keep it in, some of it will recover and grow a decent sponge.
