What's the difference?

Can someone explain the difference between favia, favites, brains?

I consider favia and favites the same,in other words close brains.Brains is just the generic term for both open and close brains.

Favia and Favites are both types of maze brain corals. They are both in the family Faviidae, but Favia and Favites are different genuses. They can be hard to tell apart, since they are so closely related to each other.

Acans,moon,micromussa are also considered brain corals to some hobbyist as well.

If I'm not mistaken,Acans and blastos are classified as brains.But I'll have to look it up to make sure when I get home tonight.

They probably came up with nicknames because the latin names are soooo complicated.
