All crush coral is good for is to trap detritus.It does have some buffering capacity but loses it over time.Get an aragonite base substrate.

I ahd i in my first tank and it gets nasty. You can't keep that crap clean.

It's really hard to keep clean and can lead to nitrate problems because of all the crap it traps. Stick with aragonite sand for your substrate, as others have said.
