What is my long polyp toadstool doing?

Hi,
Can anyone tell me what my long polyp toadstool doing? He was bought with the xenia, daisy polyps, and zoos as a piece of the reef. I glued the rock piece to the rock. Now he has split at the stalk and it is grown onto the rock.

Will it eventually split and get a new cap?

Do I need to do anything to it?

They can split at the foot and generate offspring. I'd just give it some time and watch nature do it's thing.

That is what I thought that he is splitting and nature does things best whenever possible.
