What do I need for corals?

Ok I know I need lights and I know I need a skimmer. What kind do you recommend for a guy that cant spend 800 dollars on lights and 300 dollars on a skimmer? I want good stuff but didnt know if I had to pay that price for it or not.

for lights , but i think on your 55 you may need two

You can get some really great lighting setups for much cheaper than that. I would look into a 6 bulb t5 fixture, a metal halide set up or a LED fixture. They can all be easily found for around $200+. For a skimmer, look at the reef octopus skimmers, you can get a quality one for around $150
