We have those salamanders around here. When I took Herpetology class a few years back for my Bachelor's, we had a four hour lab every week where we had to study the dead amphibians and reptiles preserved in formaldehyde in jars. Except we had to take them out and play with them :( Lots of those guys in jars around here too...

Unfortunately, I only have the pickled variety left :( They tend to lose their nice pink color after being in a jar for 40 years. But they still have that wonderful little smile...

we have them here in pa.we call them mud puppy's.there not pink though.there brown and i had on in a 125 g for about three years.it ate everything in the tank.i was so cool

I had a mud puppy once when I was a kid. After a few months I returned it to the lake where we found it. figured it would be happyer there than a 10 gallon tank.

did it ever bite you?mine bit me right after i got it and ripped the skin off my fingers.he tamed up after some time.when he got to big for my 125 i put him in my landscaping pond.but he kept going to the creek in front of my house so i just let him there.
