I have a couple of these hoods from tanks I've acquired over the years.
Aquarium Lighting & Hoods: All-Glass Deluxe Fluorescent Full Hoods - Oak
I have 2 of these.
They have T8 bulbs.
The ballasts indicate they will run ONE 14w, 15w, 18w OR 20w T8 bulb.
That means I can run (2) bulbs of any wattage listed above.
I can get 20w bulbs in 18k color for $12 each.

I purchased a 175MH fixture without a bub for silly cheap today (craigslist). I'm going to go ahead and use this on the frag tank. I was going to use a 12k or 14k bulb to promote good growth in the new frag tank.
I'm wondering if I could use the T8 ballasts with either actinic, 18k or 20k bulbs to supplement some blue color over the frag tank. It looks like an easy retrofit. I'll need to build a small canopy to house the MH bulb and these T8 bulbs.
I know they aren't HO T5, but they would cast some blue on the tank. What do ya think? Worth the cost of the bulbs to try it?
