Sump Question

Im still planning out my 180 build, what is the ideal sump/fuge size for a tank of this volume? I have a spare 40ish gallon tank that I could use but Im not sure if it will be of proper size. I could purchase another if the 40 wont be sufficent. Just fishing for opinions.

typically you want 30% of your tank area for your sump size but the bigger the better. I have a 30 gal on my 120. I may change it into a 75 sometime in the future for more total water volume. the larger the total water volume you have the easier it is to maintain.

A 40g. is plenty big enough IMO.Sure the bigger the better if you can get it to fit.I couldn't get a standard 55g. tank to fit in my 210g. stand. It fit but was so tall that I couldn't remove the skimmer body.I went the custom built route sump/fuge instead.

Thanks Kimoy it was my first hotrod, I traded it for a 1950 Ford Tudor mild custom. The model t now resides in Cali
