skimmer?

Hi i have a 55 gallon fowler tank with no coral do i nees a protein skimmer is so what type r the best thanks for answering:mrgreen:

Do you have a sump it will go into or will it be a hang on back skimmer.

ok with that skimmer would i have to recycle the tank to build up the bacteria and if so is that a good one for a 55 gallon tank

No on the recycle and yes on the skimmer. However there are a lot more expensive and probably better ones out there.

fish only tank im sure that would be fine, but when you start adding corals i would want a better skimmer. i believe in bigger is better on the skimmer. no such thing as overskimming. buy the best one you can afford.

You can also look into a Remora aqua c skimmer...I had mine on my 55gal reef, and it did a great job.

my suggestion would be octopus skimmers, i think they give you the most bang for your buck. not saying aqua c remora is a bad skimmer either.
