Ok, so today I ordered the stand that my 55 gallon is going on and am preparing to get the things I need to begin cycling. I sold a bunch of stuff I no longer use and have some money coming to me. So I am going to lay everything out as to not make any mistakes and appreciate feedback as I am a complete newbie.
1) I painted the back of the tank black yesterday and today my girlfriend wanted to surprise me and cleaned the inside of the tank and out with Windex (she didn't know better) Is this going to affect anything during cycling or will it get rid of ammonia....anything I can do?
2) I plan on getting a 4 stage RODI unit, a Reef Octopus BH1000 hang on protein skimmer, 50 pounds of dry "reef saver" rock, some dry sand for a 1.5-2" sand bed (I'm guessing about 40-50 pounds), 200 watt submersible heater and a digital thermometer and also an inexpensive pump for mixing salt water and pumping it into tank.
I already have 2 Hydor Koralia Evolution 850gph powerheads.
Am I good at this point?
