Sea cucumber ???

Hi and Merry Christmas
My sea cuke is up on glass is this normal. I would not normally have put him in a new tank but he was given to us. He does this occasionally. Should I put him in the refuge?

It really depends on what kind it is. I can't tell by the pic but, the filter feeding ones will climb up to a place where they can pull lots of food out of the water column.

He is a dark gray color with little spikes not all over. He spends most of his time on the sand bed but he will climb on the rock. He keeps his head down as far as I have seen.

Now my sea cucumber is climbing the glass and cleaning it. IS he okay??
