Hey everyone! I have a new 90 gallon tank. Anyone know how much sand I should have for a reef tank? Right now my sand is about 1.5 inches deep. Is that enough?

1 1/2 inches is fine. General rule is about a pound per gallon. Some people run with no sand at all and some people like a Deep Sand Bed of six or more inches, though they are a risk. What kind of sand did you use? If the sand was used you will want to rinse it very well.

Yup I rinsed all the sand before adding it to my tank

I like 1 to 2 inches. Too shallow, and it looks bare and your digging animals can't live in it. Too deep, and it gets dirty too easily and takes up too much space.

+1...so that means you'll need approx 90-100 lbs of sand to get to that level.
