Personally i wouldnt, so much things like parasites, waste, chemicals and other stuff that you have no clue what has been done to it. But thats just me.

Maybe from out in the water but I wouldn't get the stuff that is on the dry beach. My sand comes right out of the ocean from tampa bay saltwater but its not the stuff that is all dried up on the beach but down in the bay. It has all kinds of living critters in it.

Just washing it wouldn't remove any chemical contaminants that could have leached into the sand. IMO it's not worth the risk when bagged sand is so cheap.
