At this time, no. I'm running without a sump and seeing how I fare. Unfortunately, my tank is tempered glass, so drilling is a no-go. If it looks like I need to add one as I increase my bioload, i'm going to have to figure out how to get the plumbing done. Hopefully the tank is small enough that I can get away with an in-tank refugium, my skimmer, and my LR.

Is the whole tank tempered glass or just the bottom? Mine is just the bottom so the side is drilled.

Whole tank, unfortunately. It was a clearance tank that I got years ago. The wood stand and tank together were 100$, so I couldn't say no, but it has come with inherent problems when setting up a SW tank!

I'm seriously considering it, especially since in-tank space is limited. Either way a dragonet is in my future, so I'm going to need to set up a pod farm at some point in time. Probably in the next few months. Right now I just want to get a couple fish and a coral or two in there for something to look at besides wet rocks. Budget is limited, so the fuge is probably going to come in around October or November.

i knw what u mean.lol after i cycled my tank i let it run for a good six months. As i put coperpods in. I thouth it would be best to do it befor i added fish. So i have a better chance.. Cuz i want mandrains.lol. Well good luck hope to see it wen its up and runing

Got my CUC in place and added 2 little fish and a Duncan today. My Royal Gramma (Saffron) is quite the model, always coming up to the glass and posing. My 6 Line (Cyan), however, is the exact opposite. If he even sees me with a camera in hand, he dives behind the nearest rock to avoid being caught on film. Anyway, here's pics of the crew as it is now.

Little fish always says leave the camera by the tank so they get used to it which is a great idea but I have never had an issue my fish are all models LOL

Yep! That is the trick to getting them to come out for the camera! And your tank is looking good!

My little guys so far. The Duncan is right where I think I'm going to keep him. He seems to enjoy it there. I especially like how he looks under the moon lights. And Cyan the 6 Line still dives behind the nearest rock whenever a camera comes out, but I'm being persistent. Saffron the RG is such a playful little ham! Whenever anyone's near the tank, he swims right out to see what they're up to.

Yeah. I'm just coming out of a pretty righteous diatom bloom, but the CUC is doing their job and gobbling it all up. I did have to add a few hermits to take care of it, since it was overwhelming the snails, but as soon as they joined the crew, the algae was on short time. The tank looked a little rough for a couple of days though. Now I've got a couple poofs of hair algae starting up, so hopefully the hermits will find that soon and take care of it too.

I've moved him up the hill about an inch. It's a little more out in the light, and he's looking very happy with his location. If he continues looking happy, I'm going to try moving him completely into the light. If he stays happy there, then I'll try putting him back in his original location. If he doesn't maintain his positive outlook, then I'll move him back to the previous location. I'm just taking it slow with him, since he scared me so bad when he went into his funk.

Just keep moving him like you are about once a week, he might look a little sad for the first day but he should perk up

So my big turbo featured in the last set of photos pulled a SuperSnail and managed to knock over my (supposedly) epoxied flat rock. No broken glass, thank goodness, but a rearrangment was in order to ensure that it didn't happen again. Plus some gratuitous snail on snail action....
