Replace mechanical filter?

I have one of those typical white/blue fiber type mechanical filter before the bioballs. I wash it every 1 or 2 weeks and they seems to be getting thinner and thinner and not as puffy. Do you replace it every so often? I figure I have over 100lb of LR and DSB in the DT, replacing one filter shouldn't matter much. Just want to check with everyone first.

I keep 5 or 6 of those pads around.I usually swap em at least once a week,sometimes twice a week.
Rinse the one I just replaced and hang it to dry.

They wear thin with time and cleanings. You can get sheets of it and cut it to fit yourself. Cheaper.
