Reefing newb
hello everyone, i have a 150 gallon tank which i have set up and running for over 6 months now so i believe it is stabalized. i have a sump with two compartments that came with the tank and i wanted to make one of the compartments a refugium. my question is if it is ok to use marine mud and live sand together, or since i already have live sand in the tank to just use live sand in the refugium. this is also my first time setting up a sump so please if you have any helpful tips, i would appreciate it.

i am not shure if it is a good idea to mix them in the fuge i would use one or the other. a deep sand bed is great for nitrate reduction. i have a 8 to 9 inch deep sand bed in my tank and have 0 nitrates.

+1 james. I think with mud, you would have to replace it every now and them but im not 100% as to when. Mud just seems like it would be too much work. I'd recommend DSB
