Reef octopus HOB BH1000 protein skimmer

hey guys! I have a question regarding my hob protein skimmer, I don't want to place it in the DT so i placed it down in the sump area. question is, its not skimming as much but also currently i only have one fish which is a purple tang, 3 emerald crabs, and several red legged hermit crabs. Could that be the reason why the skimmer is not skimming much? Im still new to the site so hopefully my pictures go through if not im sorry in advance. Oh! one more thing, my main tank is 75 gallon and sump is 29 gallon. I was thinking of maybe doing a refugium on my sump and still haven't figured out how to exactly do it yet. Any ideas or suggestion is very much appreciated, thanks!

How much is it pulling out? Do you empty the cup once a day, or once every few days?

it varies, i normally empty out the collection cup once a week bc theres not much gunk in the cup and sometimes i empty it out twice a week.

What it pulls will vary with your bio load. As long as it is pulling something now I think you should be ok.
