reef octopus bh2000 problem

i just got the reef octo bh2000 and its been overflowing in the collection cup. i have the collection cup moved all the way up but its only a matter of time before it fills up. like every 3 minutes.. i know it needs to break in but should i leave it running and keep an eye on it? or just leave it off with water in it?

Are there no adjustment knobs for input and output? My coralife overflows whyen my output is too high and it is wet skimming. Try lessening the either the input or output. You shouldn't need to empty it near that much.

Can you take a picture of your skimmer as it is set up on your tank?

A couple of things come to mind with a misbehaving BH1000/2000:
1. Constricted air intake which leads to a very wet skim.
2. Excessive chemicals in the tank water that results in incorrect froth consistency in the reaction chamber.

Whenever I use something like Aquastik or Reef putty my skimmer goes crazy for a couple of hours.

yeah if your using something like water declorinator it will mess with your skimmer

my wife figured it out.
the screen on the intake had to be adjusted.
runs really great now.
i definitely reccomend this hob skimmer.
beats the hell outta my old coralife super skimmer.
