QT question

Hey all. I have my QT setup w/ copper, a heater, a powerhead & a small hang on power filter.

The power filter uses one of those pads with some carbon inside (maybe just one or two teaspoon of carbon) for filtration. Without the pad, the filer is just a pump. I heard that carbon will neutralize the copper and thus the QT wont be medicated...but im not sure about this.

My question: is that in fact true? if so, what should i use as filtration for the QT if i remove the pad?

Should i just make a small cut in the pad and remove the carbon and only use the pad itself as the filter?

Most of those pads dont have enough carbon to remove anything from the water.So I doubt it would effect your medications any at all.

you can use a sponge for the physical filtration cut to fit in the HOB filter, that will be sufficient.

I wouldn't trust carbon to remove copper. Copper is extremely hard to get rid of once it's been introduced into your system.
