my tanks rocks

I have dry rock with my live rock and its been in there for about a month and I see no change in the rock. Are they suppose to be touching each other?

What "change" are you looking for in the rock? When we refer to a rock being "live" it simply refers to the fact that it houses beneficial bacteria. It won't look different. As a rock continues to sit in the water it may grow algae and start to look aged but it has nothing to do with it being live or not.

My dry rock, which is now live rock, is just starting to grow Coraline algae. As Sarah said, it will not look much different, its whats inside that counts! The more porous the rock, the better!

+ 1 everyone! You will see changes, but much later, like 6 months. Purple growth will appear if your tank is healthy and dont have an urchin who likes corraline ;)

but yes, live means bacteria, works and other living creatures are surviving in the rock in order to work for your tank not against it :)
