MY POWER IS GOING OUT THIS SATURDAY

for 5 hrs. what should I do? I have a 29 BC and I plan on doing a 5gal WC on FRI. What is everyones advice on what i should do. I dont have a generator I was thinking to wrap my tank in towels to keep it warm and maybe warming water on the gas stove to keep the temp up. I know not to get it to warm.

Batter operated air pump. Walmart or some place may have one.

What part of the Bay Area and what time frame?

Just wrap the tank in a blanket, and use the battery powered air pump I suggested. You'll be fine in Menlo Park.

I would be hiring a generator if I knew we were having a power outage.
My biggest problem for the next 6 months is keeping the water temp cool and a power outage would spell trouble.

You could buy a battery back up it could run a power head or return pump for a bit the less you plug in to it the longer it will last I use one for my return pump and one for lights

If its only going to be 5 hours then don't be too worried about it. Your tank will be fine, my tank ran for 5 days without power after a tornado and I managed to only lose one fish.

Try one of these! you should be able to run pump & a low wattage heater off of it!
