My Dads First Saltwater Tank

The powder tang died. In fact, my dad keep coral alive like it's easy, but he has the toughest time with fish. The fish don't just died, they disappear, as if something is eating them. Nothing in the tank(that we have placed in it) is a predator but he has loss two clown fish and two tangs in the last couple of months. The two in the picture are the ones we lost. They were added from the same tank together to this tank, lived fine for about a week and then just disappeared, together on the same night. We are perplexed.

Did you let the tank run it's cycle before adding the fish? And have you checked all your levels to make sure no spikes? Stress kills fish :o

Yeah, the tank was well cycled and there has been no spikes of any kind. Something is killing them. We are on the look out unintended predators that might have slipped in via live rock or a chunk of rock with a coral on it.

Do you have anemones?

Also a good CUC crew can demolish a dead fish in relatively short period of time. Could be why you're not seeing and dead fish liein around.

no, not in his tank.....I do in my tank but they don't bother my fish.

Yeah, the fish he has are ok. No big deal cause he actually likes the coral more than the fish anyways. He's stopped buying fish for a while.
