What should I be looking for in a halide ballast?
We have 2 x 250w bulbs...

This is a good ballast and it will fire any 250w bulb.

So now we're on the fence as to whether it's the bulbs themselves or the ballast. We looked inside it this morning and switched the bulbs to see if that made a difference. So the side that wasn't turning on anymore switched when we switched the bulbs. If that makes sense...
Is there anyway that we can tell for sure? When we plug the fixture in we can see a tiny blue flickering at the bottom of each bulb.
It's also a magnetic ballast... how much of a pain in the ass is that to change to electronic?

So. We picked up a blueline 14K bulb at an LFS today and the light works! Hooray!
But it's really REALLY blue. So can we do one 14K and one something else? We also have 4x54 T5 actinic bulbs, so I don't know if that makes a difference...
