I sort of agree with yote on this one. Since your tank is so large, you have more options. I would do 10 gal water changes more often than one large 50 gallon change. Im an advocate of smaller but more frequent changes than one large change which will probably end up shocking your system.

+1 Yote, a small water change is better than no water change at all...and it may be all your tank needs since you have such a large self-efficient system.
