Hi, I have 46 gallon tank and have had it up and running for about 2 years and I'm ready to make it a reef tank. I was looking at lighting and wanted to know if this would be sufficient

Hi and welcome to the site. First off, what are you wanting to have in your tank? Fish only, fish with live rock, some corals and fish? If it is a fish only tank this light will work. No anenome I am assuming? If you are going to incororate corals you will be very limited do to low wattage.

You are gonna need at least 150 watts even for the lower light stuff. If you go sps you will need double that if not more. I have one of these on my 48 I like it. I just have zoahs and shrooms in it though. Odyssea Metal Halide Pendant 150W with T5

A good rule of thumb to follow is that you need at least 4 watts per gallon. So you will need at least ~200 watts of light to keep corals.

The fixture you linked to isn't enough. You are right to be looking at T5 HO fixtures, but you will need one that has more than 2 bulbs.
