Hi all I just recenly got a 70 gallon tank and tring to set it up. I am totally new to this and am looking for suggestions on set up. I have a limited budget. I have been looking at filters and protein skimmers and would appreciate so advice.

Hello and welcome!

If you get a good protein skimmer, you won't need a filter. Is the tank drilled for use with a sump? If not, you can either add a sump using an overflow box, or you can buy a hang-on-back protein skimmer. For someone on a budget, buying a hang-on-back protein skimmer will be cheaper than adding a sump.

No its not drilled i thought about build a sump system.

You can build a sump system pretty easily, and it's much better than having equipment hanging off the back of your tank. You would have to buy an overflow box to plumb in a sump though. The Eschopps and LifeReef brands are very reliable and popular.
