Is this just sand?

I've decided to add some substrate to my tank to get rid of the cluttery looking stuff I've got down there. Is it better to have fine particles or bigger ones? Don't the bigger ones trap goo? I found this stuff, is it just sand?

It says it's sand. :)
I think the key is getting sand that's small enough that detritus doesn't get trapped down into it, yet large enough not to get matted down or blown around by water movement.

I have the "reef grade" sand which is slightly larger than argonite or sugar sized and am happy with it.

I had it in the past.You will not notice the pink in it.
