Internet Coral sites

BigH55

I'm that guy
Ive never ordered corals online, but my LFS's are really slim on stock right now/or I have what they have. What internet sites are good? Also, I hate paying shipping so over a certain amount with free shipping would be golden. POst your favorite sites so i can check them out.

Awesome. I have a buddy that wants some stuff too so shipping wont be an issue. I get sick of LFS's having the same crap for way more money. They never have any good Zoos or Leathers like i want. They can always "order them" but you might get them three weeks later. Thanks Ill check them out.

Freehotspot had the zoos im looking for. I never never see any of those around here. If I did they'd want $100 a frag for them.

I just checked out vividreefs.com and it was awesome. THink Im gonna go with them. They have all the zoos I want.

I'll see what they have in person at MAX this weekend. If I see anything good, I'll let you know BigH

I know ive got 8 different colors now and picked out 6 more while looking. Im getting addicted. I want to start a seperate tank just for them.

I would not recommend saltwaterfish.com at all. Their animals are usually very small and unhealthy.

Their guarantee is a total scam. I know firsthand. All the fish I have ordered from them did not survive. They will not issue you a refund if your animals arrive dead, they just issue you "store credit". And to get your "store credit" from dead fish, you need to return the bodies to them preserved in salt. And of course, pay for your own overnight shipping (if you don't follow their shipping procedure, you don't qualify for the guarantee). If you cannot send the bodies back to them, they do not issue you a credit. I ordered 6 anthias from them once. Three arrived dead, so I preserved them in salt and put them in the fridge to send back the next day. The other 3 died in my tank, but I have a 240 gallon tank, no way was I able to find the bodies. So I sent the 3 DOA fish back to them, overnight shipping was enormously expensive (probably more expensive than the fish) and they issued me a credit.

But the catch is, I cannot use that credit until I order a bunch of other stuff to meet some minimum price, and the credit cannot be applied to that minimum. I don't remember what the number is exactly, but for example, if I have a $30 credit, they say I need to order a minimum of $100 worth of stuff before I can use the credit. And then, I need to order an additional $30 worth of stuff on top of the $100 before they apply the credit. Meaning, I need to spend $130 before they'll even let me use my credit.

That was back in December of 2007. I still have not redeemed my credit for the 3 dead anthias I shipped back to them, because it will cost me more money than I will end up saving. And if I do use the credit, and one of the fish shows up dead or dies in my tank, I will be in the hole even more money if I try to send it back for my "guarantee".

They are a racket. Don't support that site, please.

I more than halfway believe that they send dead fish to people just to force them into having to buy hundreds of dollars of extra stuff to be able to use their "store credit".

This thread makes me wonder if some vendors think that people in the hobby never talk to each other. Why else would they provide such crappy service and think they can just keep selling products and livestock???? I highly recommend a certain LFS due to its service more than price. Prices are comparable but service is exemplary.
