How to Rinse Sand?

So how do people usually rinse new sand? I don't think a strainer would be big enough. :-?

spread a tarp out in the back yard, spread out the sand evenly, and give it a nice rinse with the hose. let it dry in the sun thoroughly before using it in your tank. a final rinse in RO water wouldnt hurt.

You can also fill a clean 5 gallon bucket that you only use for your aquarium about 1/2 or 3/4 of the way full and fill it with water so that the sand can be stirred enough to bring the dust and such to the surface then just pour out the cloudy water. Repeat until the water is no longer cloudy then rinse with RO water. I would say that Buddy's idea would be the easiest though lol.

i used to just cut a slit in the bag and stick the hose pipe down in the sand, the current would do the same as in a bucket and cause the dust to overflow out the top but it was hard to dry it in the bag so the tarp idea sounded legit :D
