How long can saltwater sit?

Just wondering how long saltwater can stay in a mixing container? I use a 5 gallon food grade bucket from lowes.

You should be able to use it indefinitely unless it is somewhat contaminated, just make sure there is water movement (stirring). But if you use a salt without vitamins or other organic additives, you can store it unstirred if you want.

I use instant ocean reef crystals.

I make a bucket of saltwater and will sometimes let it sit for approx 2 weeks before I use it. Long as its sealed up tight, you should be alright.

i mix up my 40 gallons in a large rubber made trashcan
then i toss my old power head 802/804 in there
there is more then enough water movement
