High calcium no kalk?

plain water will work, but kalk is added for more reasons that just Calcium.

It also helps raise/maintain your Carbonate Alkalinity.

So if your alk and calcium are fine, then no need to use kalk.
 
If you started using kalk to raise your calcium and alkalinity, and you are now good, you need to keep using to maintain the acceptable levels, however, if you do not use kalk and your calcium and alkalinity are good, then you would not need to add kalk.
