Sorry to hear about your fish. The symptoms do sound like an internal parasite. Usually, that's the case if there are no outward signs of disease. There are medications you can use if this is the case.

if it was internal parasites, which sounds likely, the good news is that it will not spread to your other fish... where as if it was some kind of water borne disease you'd be at risk of losing all your other fish
