the cyano can grow out of control, so I would suck out what you can see whenever you do your water changes. Cyano is always from an overload of nutrients, which is really common in new tanks. So to prevent a takeover, do your water changes, dont over feed and dont overstock
 
Again thanks for the great info and sorry to be a bother, one more question, is there a cuc that would eat cyano. I currently have an emerald crab and 3 "dwarf" hermit crabs no fish yet.
 
dwarf cerith snails work nice :D they will power house it if you get enough of them to control it Or Florida Cerith, Nerite Snails. reefcleaners.org has great CUC's per-made or you can customize your CUC to your needs there. Its a great site for a reefer on a budget.
 
there are actually no CUC critters that are known to always eat cyano, on occasion some will but they are the exeption to the rule. Getting rid of cyano always comes down to nutrient export
