Heaters: Glass or Titanium?

For those who have been at this awhile, what type of heaters work best? I get the sense that the titanium are better because they can't shatter, but is the lifespan about the same on glass and titanium?

From my experience, it isn't glass or titanium, it is if the control and sensor internal or external. Most heaters that use internal controls tend to not last long for some reason.
